Journey Behind the Falls
Journey Behind the Falls takes you inside the rock behind Niagara’s Horseshoe Falls. You ride an elevator 125 feet down, walk through 130-year-old tunnels, and step out to viewing portals directly behind the falling water, then finish on an outdoor observation deck at the base of the falls.
It is run by Niagara Parks at the Table Rock Centre, right beside the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. The visit is self-guided and takes about an hour, and it runs year-round.

What happens on the visit
- 1. Descend. An elevator at Table Rock Centre takes you about 125 feet down to the tunnel level.
- 2. Walk the tunnels. Two century-old tunnels run about 46 metres behind the Horseshoe Falls. You will hear the water before you see it; the sound through the rock is part of the visit.
- 3. Step to the portals. Openings in the tunnel wall offer a close view from behind the falling water.
- 4. Observation deck. Outside, a deck at the base of the falls looks up at the cascade. Expect mist and wear shoes that can get wet.
